SIUE Lifelong Learning Speaker Series: Hold the salt - Winter Pollution Solutions

SIUE - Edwardsville Campus Morris University

Presented by ShowMe Stormwater Solutions - Snow and ice removal on roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways can make getting around a lot easier during winter. Poorly maintained icy surfaces can cause debilitating falls and car accidents, and even create liability issues. But before you pull out your deicing salts to make conditions safer, consider the impact of these chemicals on plants and waterways. High amounts of salt are toxic to aquatic life and some plants. In this speaker session, learn about winter salt impacts in our region and ways you can reduce salt during the winter.
